Meet Cathy Werking
Certified Professional Life and Leadership Coach
Creator of The Joy Process
Hi, I'm So Glad You're Here.
I help women who have survived life-altering loss and disappointment move from uncertainty to a
joy-filled, purpose-driven life —
grounded in faith, shaped by real life, and supported by practical next steps.
You were created to live a full and joyful life. God wants that for you—and it is possible.
I’m passionate about helping Christ-following women joyfully thrive, no matter what their past or future holds.
True, lasting joy comes from aligning our hearts, minds, and lives with God’s promises.
I’d be honored to walk alongside you in that process.
My Story
For many years, my life looked successful on the outside. I raised two wonderful children, built a strong career in sales, training, and marketing leadership, and led highly talented teams at an international agency. Yet beneath all of that, I had no joy. Life’s mistakes and devastating losses left me starting over more than once, pouring all my energy into survival and stability while quietly wondering if joy was something I’d ever experience again.
In 2018, after the loss of my second husband to cancer, God met me in my deepest grief. As I slowed down and truly listened, I began to experience something unexpected—real, lasting joy—right in the ashes of my life. God reminded me that He was still with me, still working, and not finished with me yet. As I partnered with Him in healing, rediscovering who He created me to be, and trusting Him fully, joy began to overflow.
That journey led me to become a Professional Life and Leadership Coach and to develop The Joy Process™. Today, my greatest joy comes from helping others move forward, rediscover who they truly are, get clear about their future, and cultivate the deep, resilient joy God desires for them.
I create a calm, compassionate space where you can bring your whole story. We’ll listen for what matters most, clarify what you want, and build a path forward that fits your season.

Code of Ethics
As a professional coach trained by the standards of the International Coaching Federation (ICF), I adhere to the ICF Code of Ethics, affirming my commitment to integrity, confidentiality, respect, and professionalism in all coaching relationships. Mission & Vision
My Mission
To help Christian women, especially those who have experienced life-changing loss, to shake off uncertainty, to move forward with clarity and purpose and live joyfully no matter what their circumstances. I partner with God to carry out this mission through coaching, writing, speaking and workshops.

My Business Values
  • Choose joy
  • Keep God at the center of life and business
  • Facilitate self-discovery and positive action
  • Foster continued learning and growth
Coaching and Faith
My coaching is rooted in a Christian worldview. I believe God is present, personal, and faithful—especially in seasons that feel confusing or painful.

I believe every person is created with dignity and purpose, and that hope is not wishful thinking—it’s anchored in God’s character.

In our work together, you will be met with compassion, respect, and care. You are always welcome to share as much (or as little) of your faith story as you’d like.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your path straight.”
~ Proverbs 3:5-6 (ESV)

On A Personal Note

My joy would not be complete without my family! I have two adult children who are the light of my life. And because God delivers exceedingly, abundantly above all that I ask and imagine, I’m very joyfully re-married to my wonderful friend (and secret crush) since the age of 12. Joe and I live in our home state of Maryland and love being with family, traveling, reconnecting with old friends and making new ones.

When I’m not coaching or writing, I enjoy spending time with my “God-sisters,” reading good books and hanging out with my “grand dogs”.

FAQ
What can I expect from coaching with Cathy?
You can expect a calm, supportive space to process what you’re carrying, clarify what you want, and identify practical next steps. We’ll focus on insight, encouragement, and action—at a pace that honors your season. Coaching is not directive; the coaching agenda is set by the client. We will agree first on the overall outcome you wish to achieve, then on the specific outcome you wish to reach during each session. You are free to make changes to this at any time.
Do I have to be a Christian to work with you?
No. My work is rooted in my faith, but you are welcome exactly as you are. You choose how much faith content you want included, and you will always be treated with respect and care.
Is there a long term commitment?
Change and growth takes time, so committing to at least three months is recommended. However, as with the coaching agenda, the time commitment is client-driven.
Is coaching the same as counseling?
Coaching is not therapy. Coaching is forward-focused and action-oriented, while counseling often addresses clinical mental health needs. If you’re unsure what you need, reach out and I’ll help you discern the best next step.
If you're in crisis or need immediate help, please contact local emergency services.
